Mahmud Manjur Honored for Excellence in Songwriting
Mahmud Manjur, a noted journalist and lyricist, has been awarded the Labonno Media Award 2025 in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Bengali songwriting.
The award was presented at a colorful event held on the evening of Friday, 23 May 2025, at the Kochi-Kachar Mela Auditorium in Segunbagicha, Dhaka.
The gala ceremony was attended by prominent actors, singers, lyricists, composers, directors, producers, journalists, and representatives from various social and environmental organizations. Alongside the award presentations, the event also featured vibrant dance and musical performances.
Hedayetullah Turki, head of the organizing body Labonno Media House, said, “Mahmud Manjur has not only maintained integrity and dedication in his journalism career but also made significant contributions to Bengali music. This award is a humble recognition of that impact.”
In response, Mahmud Manjur stated, “Such recognition inspires me to work harder. It fuels my passion to create better songs. I extend my heartfelt thanks to the organizers and congratulations to all the other recipients of this honor.”
It is worth mentioning that Mahmud Manjur currently serves as the Arts and Entertainment Editor of the prominent online news portal Bangla Tribune. Over the years, he has been recognized multiple times for his dual careers. He received the CJFB Performance Award for Best Lyricist (Popular) in 2019 and Best Lyricist (Critics) in 2023. In journalism, he has earned at least five awards acknowledging his excellence in cultural reporting and editorial leadership.
