For his significant contribution to lyric writing and entertainment journalism in the pursuit of healthy cultural growth, Mahmud Manjur has been honored with the BCRA Award 2025.
On November 8, world-renowned magician Jewel Aich presented him with the crest of recognition. Also present at the event were Hasan Hafiz, President of the National Press Club, and Rezauddin Stalin, Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
The award ceremony was organized by the Bangladesh Cultural Reporters Association (BCRA) to mark its 30th founding anniversary, held at the National Art Gallery Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
Expressing his feelings, Mahmud Manjur said, ‘Any recognition brings joy — but when it acknowledges one’s role in the cultural development of the country, it becomes an honor. I’m deeply grateful to BCRA for this appreciation, and it inspires me to work even harder for the promotion of healthy cultural practices.’
For more than two decades, Mahmud Manjur has been deeply involved in both entertainment journalism and songwriting. Over the years, he has worked with leading Bangladeshi media houses such as Jugantor, Tarkalok, Ajker Kagoj, Manab Zamin, and Bhorer Kagoj. For the last 10 years, he has been serving as the Arts and Entertainment Editor at the national news portal Bangla Tribune.
Alongside his journalism career, Manjur has written over 150 songs for films, dramas, and independent productions. Most recently, he penned the title track for the popular television drama series “Eta Amaderi Golpo” directed by Muhammad Mostafa Kamal Raz, performed by Arfin Rumey and Dola.
His upcoming book, titled ‘Geetijibon’ (Musical Lives), features biographical accounts of 12 eminent Bangladeshi lyricists and will be published soon by Ajab Prokash.
